Saturday, 23 October 2010
Member for Macedon, Joanne Duncan today announced the Sunbury Lawn Tennis Club would receive a grant through the latest round of the Community Facility Funding Program – Minors Facilities Category
$60,000 will be provided to the Sunbury Lawn Tennis Club to convert two natural grass courts at the courts on the corner of Cornish and Ligar Streets in Sunbury to an all season surface, Plexicushion Prestige, and the installation of court lighting to the resurfaced courts.
“Facilities such as these are an integral part of community life”
“This funding will make it easier for Sunbury tennis lovers to stay involved in the activity they enjoy and hopefully will encourage more people to have a go and join in the fun and community spirit that tennis provides” said Ms Duncan.
Ms Duncan said the project was one of 63 projects to share in more than $3 million in the latest round of funding under the Community Facility Funding Program – Minor Facilities Category.
“Through the Program the Victorian Government is taking action to ensure communities have the local infrastructure they need to participate in the sport of their choice Ms Duncan said.
“We want all Victorians to experience the benefits of an active lifestyle, and we’re continuing to work closely with local councils and communities to develop quality, accessible facilities.
”Projects like these ensure local facilities remain an important place where the community can meet up, develop a sense of belonging and play the sports they love for years to come,” she said.
Since 2000, the Victorian Government has invested more than $200 million through the Community
Facility Funding Program towards more than 2, 59 community facility projects across Victoria.
