A personal message from Joanne
The Macedon Ranges has been my home for the last fifteen years. I am fortunate to live in a wonderful part of the bush with my husband Steve, an energetic thirteen year old boy Stevo and our two dogs Maggie and Max.
We are all to some extent shaped by our background and our experiences, and thankfully mine was a happy upbringing in Keilor with three noisy sisters and loving parents who taught me the values I hold today.
Education remains a passion and it is my aspiration to see every Victorian child reach their full potential through a learning experience that is responsive to the student’s needs and relevant to their lives.
It was this interest in education that led me to become a teacher/librarian at Salesian College in Sunbury, working there for five years.
Living in Bullengarook, I’m aware of the need to protect and preserve the local environment in which we live. This is why, since my election to Parliament, I have continued to play an active role in the Parliamentary Environment and Natural Resources committee as well as bring an active member of a number of local environment groups.
My non-parliamentary interests and memberships include, Amnesty International, the RSPCA, Friends of Dromkeen, Emily’s List, the Gisborne Football Club, the Kyneton Racing Club and Project Hope.
I am also patron of the Gisborne and District Dog Obedience Club and Maggie and I try to get along to Sunday morning training sessions in Riddells Creek as often as we can.
I have previously represented the Labor Government as Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Public Libraries, Chair of the Women’s Correctional Services Advisory Committee, co-convenor of the Government Women’s Parliamentary Taskforce and a member of the Parliamentary Lions Club.
It has been my privilege to represent the electorate of Macedon, and I am proud of the Labor Government’s many achievements in this electorate that has delivered significant benefits to our local community.
I look forward to working to continuing to make Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges an even better place to live.
Please don’t hesitate to call my office if you or any member of your family needs assistance with any State Government matter or you just want to chat about what matters most to you.
Warm regards,
Joanne
