Sunbury residents will benefit from a $100,000 Brumby Government Creating Better Places Grant to support the appointment of a Place Manager to manage a range of projects identified in the Sunbury Town Centre Plan.
Joanne Duncan, the Member for Macedon welcomed the announcement of the funding.
“The Brumby Labor Government is taking action to rejuvenate Melbourne’s suburbs and maintain our liveability”.
“The appointment of a dedicated Sunbury Place Manager will enable the Council to co-ordinate their vital capital works program and identify opportunities for further investment opportunities in Sunbury” Ms Duncan said.
Planning Minister Justin Madden said Sunbury was one of 13 Victorian communities this year to benefit from the Brumby Labor Government’s $13.5 million four year Creating Better Places program.
“The Brumby Labor Government is committed to supporting the development of strong, vibrant communities right across Victoria,” Mr Madden said.
“This program is about assisting Victorian council’s like Hume City Council and their communities to create well designed public spaces that are accessible and are welcoming.
“The funding announced today will allow the council to move ahead with their important improvement projects which will have enormous benefits to the Sunbury community.’
The program builds on the Brumby Labor Government’s Melbourne 2030 and its planning update Melbourne @ 5 million funding urban improvement projects in metropolitan activity centres and regional cities and towns.
