A Victorian Government grant of $25,000 will help the Macedon Ranges develop economic opportunities, State Member for Macedon Joanne Duncan said today.
Ms Duncan said the grant from Regional Development Victoria’s Provincial Economic Partnerships (PEP) Program, would contribute to employing an Economic Development Coordinator at Macedon Ranges Shire Council for 12 months.
The Economic Development Coordinator will work in the council’s economic development unit to implement its 10-year economic development strategy, Industrial Land Strategy and a portfolio of development projects.
“There has been an increase in proposals for new business and major developments, and the new Economic Development Coordinator will work on a variety of economic development projects to deliver business growth in the shire”
Among other duties, the Economic Development Coordinator is expected to:
Build positive relationships with business, community associations and colleagues;
Undertake research in support of initiatives that deliver business growth;
Help community groups access funding for sustainable economic development programs;
Assist with planning and implementation of business investment, attraction and retention strategies.
“The appointment of an Economic Development Coordinator will give Macedon Ranges Shire Council the opportunity to develop and implement its business growth strategies,” Ms Duncan said.
“The $2.85 million Provincial Economic Partnerships (PEP) program is part of the Make it Happen in Provincial Victoria campaign, which aims to encourage people to relocate to rural and regional areas.
