Darraweit Guim will share in $473,233 in arts grants for Victorian communities under the Brumby Labor Government Community Partnerships Program, the State Member for Macedon, Joanne Duncan MP said today.
Macedon Ranges Shire Council has received $14,214 to create a metal art garden using recycled materials.
The project will bring a professional artist and the broader community together for the purpose of giving visual art a stronger presence in Darraweit Guim.
The metal art garden will be managed by metal sculptor Woody Taylor with the involvement of community groups at the various stages of design and implementation of ideas and the artwork done by local community members under the guidance of the artist.
Woody Taylor will work with community members including long term local farmers and new members who commute to work outside the town
Ms Duncan said an important aim for programs like Community Partnerships is to give people from a range of backgrounds and locations a chance to come together and actively participate in our vibrant cultural life.
“The Brumby Labor Government is committed to fostering creativity, innovation and engagement in the arts and to building a rich cultural landscape for all Victorians,” she said.
